Fort Collins Science Center Project
Research and Technical Support Services for the (Fort Collins, CO),
Columbia Environmental Research Center (Columbia, MO), and Northern Rocky
Mountain Science Center (Bozeman, MT) in the Central Region, USGS - Biological
Resources Division
The mission of Fort Collins Science Center is to develop,
integrate, and provide ecological knowledge necessary to understand the
causes and predict the consequences of change in order to improve the
conservation and management of natural resources in interior western landscapes.
The Columbia Environmental Research Center provides leadership and scientific
information for the USGS by addressing national and international environmental
contaminant issues, and assessing effects of habitat alteration on aquatics
ecosystems.
IAPWS
provides research and technical support services to assist the BRD's natural
resource activities. These services are provided at three science centers
through fixed price and labor hours task orders. Task order support is
provided for administration and management, biological/ecological research,
information management, computer operations, and GIS and remote sensing.
The goal of these activities is to maintain the ecosystem health and assist
in the identification and preservation of endangered species and their
habitats.
The
performance of biological/ecological research studies in the field, lab
and office including statistical analysis and scientific writing is the
main focus of the Centers. IAPWS also designs, develops and maintains web-based
natural resource management systems that provide real-time information
from base sources.
